Cabinetmakers are skilled artisans who construct, repair, and install wooden cabinets, furniture, and fixtures. They may work in either a custom or production capacity.
Either they work for firms that specialize in the production of custom furniture, construction businesses, or cabinetmaking contractors, or they work for themselves as independent contractors.

Responsibilities
- Examine the plans, specifications, or drawings of the items that are going to be manufactured, or make the requirements.
- Reinforce the joints once they have been trimmed, and then construct the full unit by fitting the parts and subassemblies together.
- Sand the surfaces of the wooden items, then add veneer, stain, or polish; prepare and apply laminated plastics.

- Utilize both machine and manual tools in the woodworking process in order to cut, shape, and create various parts and components.
